Yeah, I hear that pat response from music snobs a lot. There's only so much you can convey in a solo... But someone who knows a lot about music would know that right? I take it you've actually listened to the bands these guys are in? I personally didn't like this solo, and I actually agree with you here, but to make a blanket statement about 'all these guys' is pretty arrogant. Quite a bit of the prog/symphonic metal available is able to truly combine feeling and tone with technical ability.

these guys all sound the same although very technically accomplished. Musically they're not saying very much. Zappa, Beck, Hendrix, Gilmour presented something very different and individual. All these guys sound like they've come out of the satriani/Vai/Van Halen school for flash. Most of all they lack tone. Sad. But thanks for posting.
